Quinnipiac and Robert Morris were other Division I schools that showed interest.
"It was a dream come true to play D-I," Heath said. "I think it's every kid's goal to make it to the highest level they can possibly get to. It's an honor to be playing with and competing against other players at a high talent level."
Heath emerged as an elite player as a senior, averaging 24 points and 16 rebounds. He started getting more recruiting calls after a monster postseason in which he led the Eagles to their first Section V title since 1945.
"My playoff performance definitely helped," said Heath. "I knew we had to play the best basketball we played all year to make any noise it worked out well for the team and myself. I worked hard to get in the best situation I could be in."
Heath knows he'll have to work even harder to play in college, where the game is faster and the players are bigger.
"These are grown men out there on the court," Heath said. "I'm going to have to work on every aspect of my game, but I definitely have to get a lot stronger.
"I'm excited to play there and be close to home so my family can come watch me play."
